Roche was born to James Hardy Featherstone and Caroline Johanna Eady. He had three sisters Lottie B., Eva A. and Laura. He married Pearl Viola Gilmore on June 25, 1907 in Cheboygan, Michigan. To this union came Audrey M.(Fisher), James M., Wayne E., Lottie (Nau), Dorothy M. (Allaire/Gouine), Ralph D., John Keith ,Inez Jean (Spencley/Hebert), Patrica (Mills), William Featherstone.
