- GOLDTHWAITE EAGLE, April 15, 1982 FUNERAL HELD FOR MRS. LONGLEY IN SAN SABA ON APRIL 3.
Funeral services were held for Mrs. Leon (Lorene Featherston) Longley, 81, Saturday, April 3, 1982, at the Howell-Doran Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Tommy Haynes, pastor of the San Saba Church of Christ, officiating. Mrs. Longley, along time resident of San Saba County, passed away April 1, 1982, in San Saba Memorial Hospital. She was born June 28, 1900, in the Pleasant Grove community in Mills County. Her parents were the late Wayne M. and Ellen Seabourn Featherston, pioneer citizens of Mills County. On August 1, 1915, she was married to Leon Longley in the Long Cove community. She was a member of the San Saba Church of Christ. Survivors include four sons, Leonard and Alvis of San Saba; Raymond of Austin; and Roger of Friday Harbor, Washington; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Clyde Featherston of Goldthwaite and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Longley was preceded in death by her husband and a small son; three brothers, Charles G. Featherston, 1968; Joe Featherston, 1912; and Russell Featherston, 1972; and four sisters, Frances Casbeer, 1950; Ollie Allard, 1969; Hester Eddy, 1943; and Nina Featherston, 1911.'
