Certificate with divorce papers: The Certificate of marriage with the above named Henry Hewson Fetherstonhaugh called Edith Margaret Lidwell was lawfully married to the said Henry Hewson Fetherstonhaugh at St Thomas Church in the Parish of St Thomas in the City of Dublin Ireland After her said marriage your petitioner lived and co habited with her said husband at Killinan House, Thurles in the County of Tipperary Ireland and at divers other places and there are now living issue of the said marriage two children namely George Lidwell Fetherstonhaugh born on the 9th of June 1901 and Primrose Moria Fetherstonhaugh born on the 6th day of July 1904 The said Henry Hewson Fetherstonhaugh has treated your petitioner with great unkindness and cruelty and has on divers occasions struck and otherwise assaulted her. Edith Margaret Fetherstonhaugh (then Lidwell spinster) and Henry Hewson Fetherstonhaugh who had been guilty of adultery coupled with desertion for two years without reasonable cause. From about the month of April 1909 down to the present time Henry Hewson Fetherstonhaugh and Madeline Frances Lloyd have lived and cohabited as man and wife at 2 Stanley Street Chester in the County of Chester and have habitually committed adultery together. Local Divorce Suit In the Divorce Division yesterday the President had before him the undefended petition of Mrs Edith Margaret Fetherstonhaugh living at Summerland House, Summerland Avenue, Minehead in the County of Somerset for the dissolution of marriage by reason of the alleged desertion and misconduct of her husband, Mr Henry Hewson Fetherstonhaugh stated to be a trainer of racehorses and vetinary surgeon carrying on business at 2 Stanley Street, Chester. Mr D O Willis appeared for the petitioner who said that she was married on the 25th January 1889 at St Andrews Church Dublin to the respondent. They afterwards lived together in Tipperary and in other places in Ireland. There were two children of the marriage. In November 1906 the respondent deserted her and went to Buenos Ayres and when he returned to this country he joined her at "The Nook" Henley in Arden Warwickshire. In April 1908 he left her and had not since contributed to her support. At the beginning of the year she caused inquiries to be made with reference to his conduct at Chester and found that he was living there with a woman named Matilda Frances Lloyd. Her husband was a trainer of racehorses at Chester. Mr Charles Pearce Clarke a solicitor practicing at Taunton who was acting on behalf of the petitioner gave evidence as to going to Chester and seeing the respondent at 2 Stanley Street. He saw a lady there whom the respondent called "Missy" and she had a child with her. He told the respondent that divorce proceedings were pending and he said he would not defend the case. Witness questioned him about returning to Ireland and he said that he intended to make Chester his home. George Pearce of the Queen's Hotel Mews, Chester said he personally knew the respondent who said that he was the father of the child by Miss Lloyd.
