      A Farmer's Wedding
      Mr A E Thompson - Miss Helen Featherstonhaugh
      A marriage which took place at Irthlingborough on Saturday was of interest to residents of Little Houghton as the bridegroom Mr Alfred Ernest Thompson is the new tenant of Church Farm. Mr Thompson is a son of Mr and Mrs Eli Thompson of Willby his father being one of the oldest and best known farmers in the district. The bride was Miss Helen Featherstonehaugh younger daughter of Mr and Mrs Featherstonehaugh The Woodlands, Irthlingborough. The bride wore cinnamon brown silk marocain with hat to match. She also wore a spray of orange blossom and carried a beautiful bouquet of cream roses and heather. Her only bridesmaid was Miss L Featherstonehaugh (neice of the bride) who wore a shot blue taffeta dress with hat of gold tissues and a bouquet of pale pink roses. She also wore a slave bangle to the gift of the bridegroom. There was a large attendance at the church where the Rev J B Dollar Stanwick conducted the service. Mr Ben V Featherstonehaugh of The Woodlands Irthlingborough was best man and the bride's father gave his daughter away. The hymn Lead us Heavenly Father was sung by the congregation and the organist Miss A Berwick of Irthlingborough played The Wedding March. A reception held in the Central Hall Irthlingborough was attended by 80 or 90 guests. Mr and Mrs Thompson left by train for Brighton for the honeymoon. The bride's travelling costume was of heather mixture with a hat of petunia colour velour and a skunk fur the gift of the bridegroom.
